Mitigation

Experiencing unwanted sounds and noises? Mitigation may be a solution. In many environments, we can all experience unwanted sounds and noises. Mitigation of unwanted sound and noise is an essential step in improving health and well being and residential amenity.

Mitigation is the reduction of sound levels normally by physical means. Externally, this may involve a barrier such as a fence or earth bund. Internal levels may require improving the sound reduction properties of the building façade such as windows, which are typically a weak point in a building’s resistance to sound.

Measurements, calculations or both are used to assess noise impact of the environment in question.  The assessment is used to dismiss or demonstrate the need for mitigation and the ability of the location or internal space to achieve the desired levels. The necessary and appropriate mitigation can then be designed and installed.
